A5 Public consultation events
Sinn Féin Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy has announced a series of public consultation events on the proposed dualling of the A5 between Derry and Aughnacloy.
The events will provide interested parties with an update and give people an opportunity for comment.
The Minister said:
"Roads Service is currently developing route options within the preferred corridor and are keen to gather as much information as possible that will help in making decisions regarding the best route for the A5 dual carriageway. I would therefore encourage as many people as possible to attend the public consultation events."
The events are being held at four venues:
Tuesday 17 February 2009
At Silverbirch Hotel, Gortin Road, Omagh from 12:00pm to 9:00pm
Wednesday 18 February 2009
At Smyth Memorial Hall, Church Street, Ballygawley from 12:00pm to 9:00pm
Tuesday 24 February 2009
At Fir Trees Hotel, Strabane from 12:00pm to 9:00pm
Wednesday 25 February 2009
At Everglades Hotel, Derry from 12:00pm to 9:00pm
Staff from both Roads Service and consultants, Mouchel, will be available at all events to discuss any issues and to answer questions. The project website www.a5wtc.com also contains more information and an interactive map of the preferred corridor.
Note to Editors
- The A5 Western Transport Corridor is one of five Key Transport Corridors identified in the Regional Strategic Transportation Network - Transport Plan. Its improvement represents a significant link in longer term plans to improve connections to the North West.
- This round of events is part of the process that will result in the identification of the preferred route in the summer of this year.
