DUP more interested in playground antics than effective representation – Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin North Belfast MLA and Chief Whip for the Party Carál Ní Chuilín has criticised the DUP's behaviour in the Assembly chamber this morning following the ejection of DUP MLA Nelson McCausland.
Speaking from Stormont this afternoon Ms Ní Chuilín said,
"During a debate last Tuesday Nelson McCausland made scurrilous allegations against Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams. This was the second time that Nelson chose to engage in this childish and unparliamentarily behaviour; much like the last time he childishly refused to retract his remarks and was subsequently ejected from the House.
"This was the only appropriate action that the Speaker could take.
"Following his ejection the DUP members chose to engage in almost juvenile behaviour. Most people would have thought and indeed hope that those days were over and that the DUP were, like the rest of us, in this House to effectively represent and work for the people who elect us. Clearly from their behaviour this afternoon and their negative motion on the NSMC indicate clearly that they are more interested in playground antics than serious Government." CRÍOCH
