Assembly commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)
Sinn Féin West Belfast MLA and Chair of the Assembly's Employment and Learning Committee Sue Ramsey has today welcomed the recognition from the Assembly that STEM will play an integral role in benefiting the economy in the North.
Speaking following a panel discussion hosted by the Sue, Chairperson of the Education Committee Mervyn Storey and Chairperson of the Enterprise Trade and Investment Committee Mark Durkan, she said;
"This is the first time that a panel discussion of experts has been hosted at a cross-committee level and I must say that it is a welcome development.
"Today's discussion allowed experts in the various STEM fields an opportunity to discuss the best ways to take the economy in the Six Counties forward in the time ahead.
"Each of the Committee Chairs will be drafting a joint paper to their respective Ministers driving forward the STEM agenda. We must all recognise and take on board the importance of the STEM agenda for rejuvenating and reinvigorating the economy here in the North and across Ireland as w hole." CRÍOCH
