Assembly needs to do what they can for Bus firm workers

North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has said that the Assembly must ensure that all that can be done is done to ensure that those losing their jobs at Wrightbus are reskilled, retrained and secure continuous employment.

Mr McKay said

"Now is a terrible time for anybody to be losing their job and these job losses at Wrightbus were a drastic blow, especially given the fact that they were not forecast.

"Whilst Sinn Féin does not see eye to eye with Wrightbus on a number of issues, as is widely known, nobody wants to see ordinary workers losing their jobs and the Assembly must ensure that we do all in our power to reskill and retrain these workers and get them back to work as soon as possible.

"There have been some positive developments at Wrightbus and the increase in Trade Union membership is something that we very much welcome. At times like this we need to ensure that workers' rights are safeguarded.
