Sinn Féin condemns brutal Coleraine murder in the Assembly

26 May, 2009 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA and junior Minister Gerry Kelly has condemned those responsible for the brutal murder of Kevin McDaid in Coleraine at the weekend.
Mr Kelly has urged anyone with information to bring it forward to the PSNI and equally called for no retaliation.
Speaking from Stormont this morning Mr Kelly said,
“On behalf of Sinn Féin I want to send our condolences to the family of Kevin McDaid, in particularly to his wife Evelyn who was also injured in the attack that claimed his life.
“I also want to send our thoughts to Damian Fleming and his family at this time.
“Sectarianism has no place in our society and must be challenged and faced down by all political and community leaders. Society demands a united approach to face those people down who are determined to drag us back to darker days, they cannot be allowed to succeed and that is why the Assembly must stand shoulder to shoulder in telling sectarian thugs like those responsible for the murder of Kevin McDaid, that they have no place in our communities.” CRÍOCH
