Sinn Féin contact Press Ombudsman’s Office in relation to false and malicious reports in a small number of media outlets
Sinn Féin has contacted the Press Ombudsman’s office today in relation to a small number of media outlets, which have published totally false and unfounded allegations in relation to the party. The matter has also been passed over to the party’s solicitors.
A party spokesperson said:
“A small number of media outlets, last night and this morning, have published totally false and unfounded allegations about Sinn Féin in relation to vandalism of a car belonging to Joseph Rafferty’s sister.
“Sinn Féin has the utmost sympathy with the family of Joseph Rafferty. We have consistently called for anyone with information to come forward to the Gardaí so that the criminals responsible for his murder are put behind bars.
“Sinn Féin was not involved in this vandalism and we utterly condemn it. Any suggestions in the media to the contrary are false and totally without foundation and we utterly refute them. Given the seriousness of the matter, the party has contacted the Press Ombudsman’s Office and has handed the matter over to it’s solicitors.”ENDS
