Maskey condemns tourist attack
Sinn Féin west Belfast MLA Paul Maskey has condemned those responsible for attacking a tour bus travelling through the west of the city.
Speaking this morning Mr. Maskey said;
“I want to condemn this attack outright, it is not representative of the people of the west and certainly not the common experience of the huge amounts of tourists who visit this part of Belfast.
I have been in contact with the tour operator seeking a meeting to discuss what measures can be taken to ensure there is no repeat of yesterdays attack.
The reality is that hundreds of tourists freely visit west Belfast day in and day out and receive a fantastic welcome and reception from citizens. We are about building our tourism potential and hope to invite even greater numbers to see the sights and experience the cultural wealth of west Belfast. I am certain that that won’t change.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident should bring it forward to the PSNI without delay.” CRÍOCH
