Tax reliefs must be standardised
Following Minister Hanafin’s indications that she intends to look at cuts to pension tax relief’s in Budget 2010 Finance Spokesperson Arthur Morgan TD has again reiterated Sinn Féin’s demand that all tax relief’s must be standardised immediately.
Deputy Morgan added:
“As far back as 2006 Sinn Féin called all the government to make all discretionary tax relief schemes available only at the standard rate of tax noting that exceptions should only be made if there is a proven benefit to the Exchequer.
“Had successive Fianna Fáil led governments taken Sinn Féin’s advice billions of euro would have been saved in the intervening years. Sinn Féin has consistently argued that all taxation measures must be strategic, fair, continuously examined for their return to society and time limited.” ENDS
