Ferris Calls for Full Payment of REPS III
The Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Agriculture and Rural Development Martin Ferris TD has called on the Minister for Agriculture to ensure that all farmers who are part of the REPS III scheme receive their full entitlements in the current year. He was responding to a report that some payments might be held over until 2010 because the final bill is expected to be higher than forecast in the estimates.
Deputy Ferris said: “Farmers are already under fierce pressure due to cutbacks and with further cuts recommended in the McCarthy report. It is therefore essential that those who are part of the REPS III receive the money that is due to them before the end of the year. Farmers ought not to be expected to pay the price for accounting errors within the Department.” ENDS
