Newry hate crime condemned - Brady

18 August, 2009 - by Mickey Brady

Sinn Féin MLA for Newry/Armagh, Mickey Brady has condemned those responsible for an attack which took place near Edward Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The PSNI have said they are treating the attack as a hate crime.

Mr Brady said;

“Firstly I want to utterly condemn this sickening racist attack on this man. I want to send my support and my solidarity to the victim.

"Racism has no place in our society and must be faced down wherever it rears its head.

"Not long ago the local community here was shocked when a Polish man was killed. We had hoped then that this was the end to these attacks.

"The intimidation and attacks against ethnic minority communities must be investigated to the fullest and those responsible must brought before the courts.” CRÍOCH
