Residents concern regarding sale of hard drugs in Jonesborough

28 August, 2009

Sinn Féin councillor Anthony Flynn has been contacted by local residents regarding the sale of hard drugs in the Jonesborough area.

Cllr Flynn said;

“Jonesborough is a small close knit community which does not want drugs in the area. We are going to contact liaise with local schools, GAA clubs and other community groups in order to eradicate this type of activity before it takes on a grip on the community.”

Cllr Flynn also appealed to young people to be aware of the dangers from taking drugs and the effect they can have on their lives. He also calls on parents to be vigilant.

Sinn Féin has been made aware that a known drug dealer has moved into the area. Cllr Flynn said that he and local DPP members will meet with the PSNI and other relevant statutory agencies in order to address residents’ concerns regarding the sale of drugs in the Jonesborough area. Cllr Flynn also urges anyone with any information regarding drugs to pass it on to the PSNI or to any member of Sinn Féin.

“The best way to deal with this issue is for the community to come together and confront those involved in this type of criminal activity. The people of Jonesborough will not tolerate this scourge on the community.”
