North Belfast School disruption unacceptable

Sinn Féin MLA for North Belfast Gerry Kelly has slammed those responsible for the leaving of a hoax device outside Mercy Primary on the Crumlin Road.

He stated that whoever was behind this incident is attacking our children’s education, future and safety.

Speaking today Mr Kelly said:

“The disruption to Mercy Primary is completely unacceptable. How anyone can justify leaving a hoax device in school grounds where children between the age of 5 and 11 are passing is beyond belief.

“Unfortunately within north Belfast there are people who think this kind of action is justifiable. We see this in previous attacks over the past months on St Patrick's Barnageeha, St Mary’s Star of the Sea Primary School and Whitehouse Primary and Currie Primary School resulting in damage to these schools.

“Those responsible are essentially attacking our children’s education, their future, and their sense of safety.   They need to realise this and stop any such attacks immediately.”
