Darndale residents picket Custom House
A group of residents from the Lower Buttercup Estate, Darndale held a picket today at Dublin’s Custom House. The residents were highlighting the failure of Minister John Gormley to release the funding to carry out much needed refurbishing of their homes.
Sinn Féin Cllr. Larry O’Toole who joined the picket said, “It is not good enough that people have to live in these conditions in this day and age. We have had nothing but false promises for four years since it was agreed to have this work done.”
During the picket – organised by the residents and the local Sinn Féin Cumman – two residents and Cllr. Larry O’Toole met with a Dept. of Environment official and handed in a letter to Minister Gormley.
Cllr. O’Toole added, “We will be stepping up our actions if we don’t receive a positive response to our latest representation.” ENDS
