Taoiseach to be unaccountable to Dáil for three weeks – Ó Caoláin
Sinn Féin Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has criticised the absence of the Taoiseach Brian Cowen from the Dáil next week.
Deputy Ó Caoláin said today;
“The announcement that the Taoiseach will not be attending the Dáil next week to answer questions is yet another blow to his credibility and that of his Government.
“The Dáil has only just resumed after being in recess since June. There were no Taoiseach’s Questions in the Dáil this week, only Leaders’ Questions on Wednesday confined to the Fine Gael and Labour leaders. Taoiseach Brian Cowen will be absent next week and the Dáil will not be sitting the following week because of the Lisbon Treaty.
“This means that three weeks will pass with the Taoiseach unaccountable to the Dáil at a time of economic crisis, soaring unemployment and deepening cuts to public services.” ENDS
