Strong Sinn Féin line-up for all-Ireland Ploughing Championship
Sinn Féin Vice President Mary Lou McDonald, MEP Bairbre de Brún, North Kerry TD Martin Ferris and Six County Agriculture Minister Michelle Gildernew MP MLA will be part of a strong Sinn Féin presence at this years all-Ireland Ploughing Championship in Athy, Co Kildare next week (starting Tuesday 22 September and running till Thursday 24 September).
The 78th Ploughing Championship is returning to its birthplace in Co Kildare and almost 200,000 people are expected to attend one of Europe’s largest outdoor events.
The Sinn Féin Stand will be at J 164. Broadband access & refreshments are available and the space can accommodate meetings.
The Sinn Féin Agriculture Minister Michelle Gildernew and MEP Bairbre de Brún will attend the opening ceremony with Irish President Mary McAleese on Tuesday 22 September at 12 noon.
The Sinn Féin Six County Minister of Agriculture, Michelle Gildernew will host a reception on the opening day of the Ploughing Championship on Tuesday 22 September at 5pm in the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) tent at J 162.
Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris will launch his Oireachtas Report on Farming and Fishing in the West of Ireland that was unanimously agreed by the committee on Wednesday September 23 at 2pm in the Sinn Féin tent. Bairbre de Brún will also be in attendance.
The second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty is a hugely controversial issue among farmers and there will be a Lisbon information stall open for the duration of the Ploughing Championship and Donegal County Councillor Paidraig MacLoughlainn, Sinn Féin Vice President Mary Lou McDonald and Bairbre de Brún MEP will be available to speak to the media on Thursday 24 September at 12 noon.
Sinn Féin currently has Councillors in 31 of the 32 Irish Counties and there will Sinn Féin Mayors and Chairs and Councillors from across Ireland in attendance throughout the Championship.
