Gerry Kelly visits Brussels

Sinn Féin MLA for north Belfast and junior Minister in the Executive Gerry Kelly has today said, There remains a high level of interest within Europe in learning from our experience of building peace and conflict resolution within a divided society.

Speaking from Brussels, where he is leading a delegation of senior officials to provide an update report regarding ongoing work on the Barroso Taskforce and discuss development of ongoing plans, Mr Kelly said;

“We recognise the vital contribution the European Union makes to the economy and wellbeing of our island. This visit is further evidence of our serious intention to engage with the EU and to build on the work of the Task Force set up by Commission President Barroso.

There remains a high level of interest within Europe in learning from our experience of building peace and conflict resolution within a divided society, part of discussions today will ongoing development of proposals for a Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Centre here in the north.” CRÍOCH
