Welcome for Consumer Council’s consultation on Fuel Poverty and Social Tariffs – Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin economic spokesperson and member of the Assembly’s Enterprise, Trade and Investment committee Jennifer McCann MLA has welcomed moves from the Consumer Council to open a public consultation on Fuel Poverty and social Tariffs.
Speaking from the Assembly today Ms McCann said;
“I welcome the fact that the consumer Council are to hold these community panels across the north, particularly in those areas most effected by fuel poverty. I would urge people to avail of this opportunity to engage on this very important issue, which effects so many people.
This announcement comes following the Assembly debate last week on the introduction on a social tariff system.
As we enter into the winter months the issue of fuel poverty is one which becomes increasingly relevant to the general public; the consumer Council, as one of many stakeholders have a very central role to play in highlighting the genuine concerns held by many citizens across the Six Counties.” CRÍOCH
