Ramsey Supports Right to Read campaign
Sinn Féin Employment and Learning Spokesperson, Sue Ramsey MLA (West Belfast) has voiced strong support for the ‘Right to Read’ campaign following a reception for RNIB in Stormont today.
Ms Ramsey said:
“It is essential that everyone be given every assistance and opportunity to fulfill their full potential in all aspects of life. This applies especially to those with physical disabilities such as the Blind and partially sighted.
“We should be striving to ensure that as much learning and informational material as possible is available on request in the appropriate format to enable the blind and partially sighted to read things that the rest of us take for granted, such as doctor, hospital or dentist appointments. It is also crucial that learning material for blind and partially sighted children are readily available so that these children have the same educational opportunities as fully sighted children.
“I fully support this campaign and will facilitate RNIB in accessing the appropriate Ministers and Assembly Committees where they can put their case directly and articulate it far better than I ever could. I wish them full success in their campaign. ENDS
