Anderson urges groups to access anti-poverty funds

27 October, 2009 - by Maeve McLaughlin

Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson is urging anti-poverty groups in the city to apply for new grant funding which has become available.

Martina Anderson said:

“A charitable trust – which prefers to remain anonymous - is inviting applications for funding from projects designed to relieve poverty and assist the homeless in Derry and Belfast.

“The trustees meet quarterly to award modest grants in the region of £2,000 to £5,000 in total.

“Given the challenging situation which is facing many community and voluntary organizations at present, I would encourage local groups to apply for these grants. They can do so by applying in writing to Mr W McKeown, Secretary to the Charitable Foundation, 13-21 Queen's Arcade, Belfast BT1 5FE.” ENDS
