Hospital Bed announcement ‘welcome news’ – Michelle O’Neill
Sinn Féin’s deputy Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, Michelle O’Neill MLA, has welcomed this evening’s news that plans to cut 150 beds in the Belfast Health Trust area are to be shelved.
Speaking this evening Ms O’Neill said;
“Obviously this is welcome news as people are becoming increasingly concerned with the threat posed by swine flu heading into the winter months. The possibility of loosing these beds added to the problems that we are facing.
The money allocated by the Executive to help combat swine flu can now be utilised in a sensible approach to bed provision within the Belfast Trust area.
Very real difficulties remain within the department and we must all work to ensure that patients and our health care workers are protected and defended in the time ahead.” CRÍOCH
