Now is the time to review senior civil servants pay - McCann

2 December, 2009 - by Jennifer McCann

Sinn Féin MLA and Chair of the Committee for Finance & Personnel Jennifer McCann has called for a review of Senior Civil Service pay levels following confirmation that they earn more than Ministers.

Speaking today Ms McCann said:

"It is clear that there is too much of a differential in pay scales between senior civil servants who are working at Grade 5 or higher levels than those civil servants at the lower level of the scale.

“Sinn Féin have consistently highlighted these pay differentials and welcomed the Finance & Personnel Committee's recent review into senior civil servants bonuses’.

“I believe it is time for a review of senior civil pay for those working at Grade 5 levels and beyond."
