Competition winner to deliver special Christmas appeal to Government
The winner of an art competition, Curtis Tysom, 12, who designed the image for the campaign to restore the Christmas Bonus payment will tomorrow deliver a giant Christmas card to Government buildings which is signed on behalf of a number of Councils throughout the state, all of which have passed motions in support of the restoration of the social welfare payment.
Sinn Féin Social and Family Affairs spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh will accompany Curtis, his mother Debbie Tysom and Grandmother Breda Sargent to Government Buildings at 12:30pm for the delivery of the card and is available to speak to the media.
On the eve of the budget Deputy Ó Snodaigh will make a final appeal to the Government to restore the bonus payment amid growing concerns that many people are turning to ruthless money lenders in desperation to provide a decent Christmas for their children.
