Deputy First Minister launches ethnic newsletter
The deputy First Minister has launched Strabane Ethnic Community Association’s (SECA) first annual newsletter, which details some of the achievements that SECA has enjoyed over the past few years.
Launching the newsletter, Minister Martin McGuinness congratulated SECA on the excellent work they have been carrying out in the area in recent years and said: "This type of work is key to building the shared and better future that we all want to see. A future where equality and diversity are respected, promoted and cherished."
He added: "While Government has a leading role in promoting integration, we recognise and appreciate that much of the practical work in building relationships is undertaken by the groups on the ground, such as Strabane Ethnic Community Association.
Highlights of the events reported in the newsletter include the North West’s first Diwali festival and a multi-national food tasting night in conjunction with the local council which was held for the second year running.
