9 December, 2009 - by Cathal Boylan

Newry and Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan has condemned last nights attempted robbery of an ATM machine at a bank in Keady.

“The attempted raid on the Bank of Ireland was an attack on the whole community; not only has it deprived the people of a vital 24 hour service, but also the disruption to staff and a substantial amount of business transactions, especially in the period leading up to Christmas.”

Mr Boylan visited the scene of the raid along with his colleague Cllr Darren Mc Nally and the saw for themselves the scale of destruction to the front of the building, they talked to staff and the general public and offered there support.

Cllr Mc Nally stated;

"Fortunately on this occasion the planned robbery failed and I hope that this vital service can be re-established as soon as possible. “ CRÍOCH
