McLaughlin attends launch of ‘Children with Disabilities Strategic Alliance’, Manifesto at Parliament Buildings.
South Antrim Sinn Féin MLA, Mitchel McLaughlin commenting following the recent launch of the ‘Children with Disabilities Strategic Alliance’, manifesto at Parliament Buildings said:
“The sense of exclusion that children with disabilities and their families experience in society cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. This Manifesto should be compulsory reading for legislators and statutory agencies, particularly those tasked with delivering on the needs of people with disabilities.
“ Areas where children with disabilities and their families most often encounter obstacles accessing essential services, education etc that the rest of us take for granted are highlighted in this manifesto.
“Children with disabilities are entitled to have access to facilities and resources that enable them to enjoy their life to its fullest potential.
“I believe that Government should set an example by ensuring that its policies are tailored to eliminating any ambiguities that would inadvertently or otherwise lead to any form of discrimination or exclusion of children with disabilities.
