Alex Maskey receives Orange Volunteers death threat

13 January, 2010 - by Alex Maskey

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey was, last night, informed that a death threat has been issued against him by the Orange Volunteers.

Alex Maskey MLA said:

“Last night I was informed by the PSNI that a death threat had been made against me by the Orange Volunteers.

"This threat against me comes following similar threats being issued against my party colleagues Gerry Adams, Gerry Kelly, Francie Molloy and Caitríona Ruane in recent weeks.

“I will not allow any threat to detract me from my work as an elected representative. I will continue to carry out my work on behalf of those citizens in South Belfast who elect me to represent them at the Assembly and will not be deterred from this important work by threats of any kind."
