Ó Snodaigh calls for abolition of courtroom wigs and gowns
“Payouts of 40k plus for certain judges’ wigs and gowns is indefensible. How can the state defend such wasteful usage of taxpayers money for something that can only be described as an outdated and pompous and imperialist tradition benefiting nobody?
“At a time when we are being told that some disability payments must be cut, when social welfare is being decreased, when single parent allowances are being slashed, it is plain inexcusable to be spending such incredible amounts on courtroom paraphernalia.
“It’s time priorities were set right and the system changed. Courtroom wigs and gowns must be abolished from Irish courtrooms.”
