Peoples Millions - Schools should apply!- O Dowd

Sinn Féin Education spokesperson John O'Dowd has called on schools that are involved in community projects to apply for funding to the People Millions from the Big Lottery Fund.

Mr. O'Dowd said,

"Every year the People Millions distribute £250,000 to projects that enrich local communities across the North.  In many areas of the North the local school is the hub of the community and I would encourage those schools to apply to the scheme for funding.

"There are five awards of up to £50,000 available and this money can be used for the benefit of local community projects.

"Whether it is existing projects or new projects there are opportunities for schools to get funding for exciting projects that will enhance their community.

"Many people across the North contribute to the Lottery Fund by buying tickets and this initiative allows for everyone to contribute where that money is spent through a phone in voting system in November on local TV.
