Ó Snodaigh criticises closure of Inner City Partnership Group
Dublin South Central Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh has severely criticised the decision of the Government, via Pobal, to cease funding the Dublin Inner City Partnership, which was the co-ordinating body and funding body for many of the community groups in the South Inner City.
Speaking today Deputy Ó Snodaigh said:
“This is now the second partnership group in my constituency to have its funding cut in what I believe is part of the continuing roll-out of the dismantling of the Community and Voluntary sector by this government as proposed by the McCarthy Report.
“Whatever issues existed could have been addressed and resolved without collapsing a key plank of the Programme for Government's strategy for addressing social inclusion and abject poverty.
“This is a ridiculous decision at a time when organisations such as the Dublin Inner City Partnership with their expertise and local knowledge is vital in trying to address the increasing poverty, drug problems and social exclusion.” ENDS
