Ó Donnghaile welcomes official opening of Pottinger’s Quay social housing
Sinn Féin Representative for east Belfast Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed today’s official opening of the 27 new Clanmill apartments at Pottinger’s Quay on the Short Strand.
Speaking this afternoon he said;
“The Short Strand and wider east Belfast are crying out for more social homes, this particular development on the Short Strand itself has been in the making for some time now. The apartments themselves are built to the highest standard and I have been privileged to work with some of the residents on a range of issues already.
The development of this stretch of the river Lagan is a wonderful boost for our community and I commend everyone at Saint Matthews Housing Association, the Short Strand Partnership, DSD and Clanmill who have made these much needed apartments a reality. They are part and parcel of sustaining families, sustaining our community into the future.
In the coming while we will see part of the development used for providing child day care facilities in what is already an area of high demand. This imaginative project is the brainchild of the Short Strand Partnership Board, so exciting times remain ahead for this site.” CRÍOCH
