Sinn Féin raises Gaza Flotilla tragedy at Assembly
Under ‘matters of the day’ Sinn Féin MLA’s at the Assembly this morning raised the tragic murder of aid workers travelling on Gaza Aid Flotilla.
Foyle MLA Raymond McCartney spoke during the discussion in the Chamber this morning, he said;
“Yesterday’s brutal attack by Israeli forces on the aid convoy travelling in international waters has shocked people right across the world. Here in Ireland thousands of people have gathered in villages, towns and cities throughout the country to highlight their solidarity with the besieged people of Gaza and express their disgust at the brutal murder of the travelling aid workers.
It is important that this issue was able to have been discussed on the floor of the Assembly; it is unfortunate, although not entirely surprising, that some could not bring themselves to even condemn the brutal nature of yesterday’s events.
For our part Sinn Féin will continue to highlight the systematic oppression of the Palestinian people and urge the United Nations to take swift and effective action against Israel following the attack on the aid convoy and also in relation to their continued illegal blockade of Gaza.” CRÍOCH
