Doherty welcomes North West Radiotherapy commitment
Speaking at a meeting of the Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty has welcomed the commitment made by the organisation Cooperating and Working Together (CAWT) that the regional radiotherapy service in the North West will be fully operational by 2015.
Welcoming the announcement Senator Doherty said:
“I am glad CAWT were in a position to confirm to the committee on foot of my question, that the North West regional radio therapy services will be fully up and running by 215.
“As has been indicated by CAWT the centre is intended to be a truly North west and cross-border facility.
“I am sure that the news will be satisfactory especially for those who have long campaigned for such a facility. The news just goes to show that when we cooperate on an all-Ireland basis we can deliver the best facilities for the people.
“I hope to see further cooperation in the are of cross-border health in the future.”
