People are demanding change – McDonald

11 June, 2010

Sinn Féin Vice President Mary Lou McDonald has said the Irish Times opinion poll published this morning clearly shows the public appetite for change in Ireland. However Ms McDonald said the reality is that the Labour Party will not deliver change if it continues on its path to coalition with Fine Gael.

Speaking today Ms McDonald said:

“It is quite clear from today’s opinion poll results that the people want change. The combined support for Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael is now at 45%. It is clear that the people are fed up with the domination of the big parties and are demanding change.

“However, the reality is that just as people are starting to catch on to the fact that Fine Gael is no different to Fianna Fáil the Labour Party is intent to put them into Government anyway.

“If the Labour Party continues on its current path to coalition with Fine Gael they will fail spectacularly to deliver the type of change that people want to see and are demanding.” ENDS
