MP comments on Aughnacloy bomb attempt
Sinn Féin MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone Michelle Gildernew has called on those behind last nights attempted bomb attack in Aughnacloy ‘to seriously reflect on what they are doing’.
Ms Gildernew said:
“The first thing to say is that people in Aughnacloy will be relieved this morning that no damage has been done and nobody has been injured in last nights attempted attack on the PSNI station.
“However people are angry at the disruption that has been caused particularly to elderly people and young children who were forced from their homes overnight.
“Whichever one of the small militarist factions who carried out this attempted attack need to seriously reflect on what they are doing. Their actions are no part of a campaign to bring about Irish unity and they have little or no popular support.
“Those of us in political leadership need to continue to keep working, to continue to build relationships and continue to demonstrate clearly that politics does work and that a political and peaceful path to a united Ireland is available.” ENDS
