Boycott campaign must continue until siege of Gaza is completely lifted – Ó Snodaigh
Speaking after attending a meeting of the Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs which was attended by the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland and his Palestinian counterpart Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh said the campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel must continue until the siege of Gaza is completely lifted.
Deputy Ó Snodaigh said, “I want to congratulate all those who marched on the Israeli embassy, who took part in protests and who are currently engaged in the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel.
“The reaction of Irish people to Israel’s murderous attack on the humanitarian aid flotilla has been tremendous and, more importantly, it has been effective as we have seen pressure pile on the Israeli Government to lift the siege of Gaza.
“Israel’s announcement that it will ease the siege on Gaza is an attempt to relieve some of the international pressure mounting on it since the attack on the flotilla. However, only a complete ending of the siege is acceptable and the campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions must continue until that happens.” ENDS
