Ó Snodaigh welcomes massive drug seizure

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Justice and TD for Dublin South Central, Aengus Ó Snodaigh has welcomed the news that €10 million worth of cocaine and two handguns have been seized by the Gardaí in an operation in Terenure this morning.

Deputy Ó Snodaigh described the news as a “significant blow” to the Crumlin based gang who its believed were behind the drugs and firearms haul. However he cautioned against any complacency and urged greater garda and government action against the drug dealers and in support of beleaguered south city residents.

The Dublin South Central TD said, “The constituency I represent has been ravaged by drugs and drug related gun crime for many years. Residents in many estates are living in a constant state of fear and intimidation from these drug dealers and gangsters. This discovery and seizure by the Gardaí of 14kg of Cocaine and two handguns is a very welcome development and will have dealt a significant blow to the gang involved. However, we must not become complacent. This, no doubt, only represents a fraction of the drugs coming in to the country. We must remain vigilant and continue to exert maximum pressure on these gangs to put them out of business. The people of Dublin South Central are entitled and deserve to be able to live free from the type of intimidation and threats coming from these gangs.”
