Save Loughloe House campaign to protest at Leinster House tomorrow
To coincide with the HSE's quarterly report, which Mary Harney and Brendan Drumm are due to attend in Dublin tomorrow the Save Loughloe House Action Committee will hold a picket at Leinster House at 2pm.
Speaking ahead of the protest Athlone Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Hogan said:
“It is over two months since the HSE announced their proposed closure of Loughloe House nursing home in Athlone.
“Of the 26 residents present for the announcement on 6th of May, 4 are now deceased.
“The HSE threatened to withdraw staff after two months and that families would have to take care of their relatives in Loughloe House.
“Athlone, with a population of 39,000 within a ten mile radius now has no respite care compared to nearly 40 beds this time last year.
“We are fighting for HSE to retain public nursing home for present and future residents.” ENDS
