Adams: Ross Road flats demolition a victory for residents
Sinn Féin west Belfast MP Gerry Adams has welcomed “the long overdue decision” by the DSD Minister Alex Attwood to demolish Ross Road flats and described it as a “victory for the community, for the residents of Ross Road flats and for common sense”.
Mr. Adams said:
“This is a very welcome decision. The Lower Falls residents have waged a vigorous campaign for demolition and this is a victory for their efforts.
"There should now be no further delay in moving ahead with demolition.
"Last week the Minister of DRD Conor Murphy met the residents and committed his department to working with the local community on improving the district and quality of life of residents.
"The local MLA Fra McCann is convening a round table meeting of statutory agencies and departments to discuss how demolition can be best managed and what multi-agency strategies are required to ensure that what replaces Ross Road flats meets the needs of the local community." ends
