South Belfast public urged to view and comment upon Bus Lane extensions

29 July, 2010 - by Alex Maskey

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey is encouraging people in South Belfast to take the opportunity to view, and comment upon, plans for proposed new bus lanes on the Saintfield and Ormeau Roads.

Alex Maskey MLA said,
“The Department for Regional Development (DRD) currently has proposals to extend existing bus lanes and also to introduce new bus lanes on the Saintfield and Ormeau Roads.

“These proposals will compliment the Cairnshill Park and Ride service due to begin in August/September and, if acted upon, should improve journey time and reliability as well as have a positive environmental impact by offering those who travel to and from Belfast a viable alternative to driving in their car.

The South Belfast MLA continued,
“Notice and details of these proposals were published this week and I would encourage the people of South Belfast to view the proposals and express their opinions on the proposals over the next few weeks.”
