John O’Dowd MLA lambasts those who left explosive device in residential area.

14 August, 2010 - by John O'Dowd

Sinn Féin’s Upper Bann Assembly Member John O’Dowd has lambasted those who left a viable explosive device in the middle of a residential area.

The PSNI received a warning this morning, via the Samaritans, of a device in the immediate area of the Model PS on Brownlow Terrace. While they were checking out the area a small device exploded nearby in Killmaine St. slightly injuring three young girls.
The girls were hit with fragments of plastic but it is believed that they are mostly suffering shock.

Mr O’Dowd said,

“Those who planted this device in the middle of this residential area obviously do not care who they hurt or kill and are void of any sense of social or political responsibility. The leaderships of the groups behind this senseless behaviour have to accept responsibility even if their membership is incapable of doing so. It is past the time for them to call an end to this pointless oppression of the nationalist community.” ENDS
