Trimble attempts to provide cover for securocrat murderers
Sinn Féin Assembly member Bairbre de Brún has accused the UUP leader David Trimble of 'attempting to provide political cover for British securocrat murderers'. Ms de Brún's comments come after Mr Trimble attempted to link human rights lawyers Pat Finucane and Rosemary Nelson to the IRA.
Ms de Brún said:
"David Trimble's remarks attempting to link both Pat Finucane and Rosemary Nelson to the IRA were first and foremost dishonest and insulting to their families.
"Mr. Trimble knows well the reality that for decades the six county state has been propped up through a campaign of state sponsored murder.
"Mr. Trimble in a very calculated fashion is attempting to provide cover for that campaign and for the British securocrats who devised it and carried it out.
"It is time that Mr Trimble faced up to the reality of collusion and accepted that the Special Branch, FRU and MI5 have all been involved in the murder of citizens and that the structures and personnel which operated this campaign are still in place and need to be removed." ENDS
