24 September, 2010 - by Pat Sheehan

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams MP MLA this morning met New York City Comptroller John Liu.

Yesterday Mr. Adams met Thomas DiNapoli the New York State Comptroller.

Mr. Adams’ discussions with both men centred on Pension Fund investment in the north and the opportunities for job creation.
Gerry Adams said:
“Both John Liu and Tom DiNapoli reasserted their goal of providing additional investment for the north, over and above the pension funds already invested in business based here.
"While the focus of the Comptrollers is to add value to the Pension Funds, they both understand the connection between investment and tackling inequality and disadvantage in the north.
"Our discussions were positive.
"New York Comptroller John Lie plans to visit Ireland in the next few weeks. He wants to come and see for himself the possibilities and opportunities.”
"The Sinn Fein leader this week also attended the Clinton Global Initiative event in New York which brings together political and business and NGO leaders from across the globe. At last nights final session which was addressed by President Obama, former US President Bill Clinton revealed that the CGI has now raised some 63 Billion dollars in the last five years, mainly for the developing world."
