Sinn Féin to select election candidate for North Kerry/West Limerick tomorrow
Sinn Féin will hold a selection convention for the North Kerry/West Limerick constituency at the Earl of Desmond Hotel, Tralee tomorrow, Thursday October 14th at 8.00pm. Party President Gerry Adams will be in attendance and will address the meeting.
Speaking ahead of the convention Director of Elections for the constituency, Councillor Robert Beasley said Sinn Féin would be running an energetic and vibrant campaign to retain the seat in the constituency.
“We have been on an election footing since the summer and we are well prepared for it whenever it comes. We are expecting a tough campaign, as it always is in North Kerry, and the addition of West Limerick has made the contest all the more competitive. However, we are confident that the work we have been doing on the ground all over North Kerry and West Limerick is recognised by people and they will vote accordingly when the time comes.
“We are the only party to have offices in the constituency’s major towns of Abbeyfeale, Listowel and Tralee, paid for by our own resources. The service provided by Martin Ferris and our councillors is, I believe, unmatched by any other party.
“The next election will give people an opportunity to pass judgement on what the Fianna Fáil government has done to this country through their reckless policies. But it also gives people of this constituency a chance to look at what this government has actually delivered for North Kerry and West Limerick such as unemployment, emigration, wage cuts, pension levy’s, and cuts to health, and social welfare benefits.
“That’s hardly a record to proud of and certainly not a record that deserves any kind of electoral reward.” ENDS
