Communities unite in support of hospitals – Ó Caoláin

30 October, 2010 - by Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD

Speaking in Navan at the rally in support of Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, Sinn Fein Health & Children spokesperson and Dail leader Caoimhghin O Caolain called on communities across the country to unite in support of their hospitals and of the public health service.

He said:

“Local public hospitals have for long been under attack due to Government and HSE policies of privatisation and centralisation. Nowhere is this more acute than in the North East where vital services have been axed in Navan, Monaghan and Dundalk Hospitals. Now our public health services are under attack from the savage health cuts being imposed by the Fianna Fail/Green government.

“People across the country have been mobilising in support of their hospitals and the public health service. This should continue as communities unite against the cuts." ENDS
