Sinn Féin MP and MLA to accompany Bloody Sunday families to London
Sinn Féin MP Conor Murphy and MLA for Foyle Raymond McCartney will, tomorrow, accompany the Bloody Sunday families to London as the families travel to observe the debate on the Saville inquiry in Westminster.
Speaking today Mr McCartney said:
“The families will be traveling to London to observe the proceedings and the debate to be held in Westminster in relation to what happened their loved ones at the hands of the British army in 1972 in Derry.
“Certainly from our point of view the truth about what happened at Bloody Sunday has come out and the 14 innocent victims have been shown to be just that, innocent.
“However there remains questions as to the decisions the British crown prosecution service now have to make which remains of interest to the families.
“Further to this we would wish to see full independent inquiries into other instances such as the strong campaign, currently being brought to the fore by the families, to access the truth with regards to the Ballymurphy Massacre of August 1971.”
