Make a stand against Bad Government - Adams
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams MP MLA is in Donegal South West this afternoon to join Senator Pearse Doherty at the launch of the Party’s manifesto for the Donegal South West by-election.
Speaking in Ballybofey Mr. Adams said the election of Pearse Doherty provides the people of Donegal South West with the opportunity to “make a stand against a bad government and bad government policy.”
Mr. Adams said:
“The Donegal South West by-election gives citizens the chance to make a stand against a bad government and bad government policy. The Fianna Fáil and Green Party leadership have clearly lost their way. The election of Pearse Doherty is the best opportunity for Donegal people to stand up for themselves, to stand up for Ireland and to stand up for Donegal.
“The government tried to prevent this election. It took Pearse Doherty’s High Court action to bring it about.
“The government is poised to implement a programme of savage cuts. They need to be stopped.
“Donegal never benefited from the wealth of the Celtic Tiger. People in this rural border constituency are not well placed to withstand the ravages of government policy. By electing Senator Pearse Doherty citizens of Donegal South West will send a TD to Leinster House to represent them and to reject the government.
“By electing Senator Pearse Doherty citizens of Donegal South West will send a TD to Leinster House to represent them and to reject the government.
“If the government win this by-election they will use it to justify their ongoing attacks on the rights and entitlements of citizens. The government candidate will vote for the budget. The people of Donegal South West will suffer.
“Pearse Doherty is the only anti-government candidate who can win this by-election. Sinn Féin has proposed a series of practical and costed measures to initiate economic recovery. They are all about balanced and sustainable economic regeneration.
“The government is making political choices in favour of their cronies. There is a better way. A vote for Pearse Doherty is an investment in a fair and decent future for the people of Donegal South West.” ENDS
