Maskey comments after Boucher Road fire

16 November, 2010 - by Alex Maskey

MLA for south Belfast Alex Maskey has today said he is ‘deeply thankful’ that no one was seriously injured in last nights major fire on the Boucher Road in the city.

Mr Maskey’s comments come after a number of shops at the retail estate were severely damaged by fire.

Speaking today Alex said;

“Obviously I am deeply thankful that no one was injured in what was obviously a very serious and dangerous blaze.

"I commend the actions of the emergency services whose actions no doubt prevented even worse damage.

"At this time of economic uncertainty it is deeply regrettable that workers at the effected shops will be unsure of what lies ahead.  It is vital that they are supported in light of this incident and that their rights and needs are protected.” CRÍOCH
