Government has handed over authority for state and should resign – Adams

21 November, 2010 - by Pat Sheehan, Westminster

Reacting to the announcement this evening by An Taoiseach Brian Cowen that the Government is to seek funding from EU and the IMF, Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams said:

“This Government has no mandate to do what it is doing.

“It has handed over authority for the state to outsiders in order to get a digout for the banks, which the Irish people will have to pay for.

“The Government should resign so that ctizens can have their say in a General Election.” ENDS
