NRA must immediately release grit to treat roads — Ferris
Sinn Féin TD for Kerry North/Limerick West has called on the National Roads Authority to release grit to local authorities to allow them to treat roads affected by the latest cold snap.
Deputy Ferris said:
"Stocks of grit held by local authorities are at a dangerously low level. This is impeding efforts to treat roads which have been subject to the latest snow and ice.
“In many areas roads are impassable and dangerous driving conditions are presenting a serious risk to both motorists and pedestrians.
‘It is vital the NRA immediately release grit and enusre as a matter of urgency that they access sufficient reserves to cope with any future bad weather."
