Lenihan must intervene to prevent new Bank of Ireland fees – Doherty

23 December, 2010 - by Pearse Doherty TD

Sinn Féin Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty has described the new fees and charges announced by Bank of Ireland as an affront to the Irish people who have pumped billions into the bank.

Deputy Doherty said Finance Minister Brian Lenihan must step in to prevent the bank from implementing these new charges.

He said:

“Bank of Ireland’s new fees and charges are an affront to the Irish people who have pumped billions into the bank.

“Furthermore, they are designed to target the least well off customers.

“This is exactly the type of thing the public interest directors were put in place to prevent.

“Minister Lenihan must now step in to prevent the bank from implementing these new charges on their customers.” ENDS
